Our House

When a child needs medical care, being together matters. Staying close allows families to support one another, remain engaged in their child’s care, and find steadiness during an otherwise uncertain time. Our 21-room Ronald McDonald House, opened in 1984, was created to give families a place of comfort, stability, and belonging when they need it most.

Families often travel far from home to access specialized medical care. Our House provides a welcoming place to stay close to the hospital, easing the burden of lodging, meals, and daily logistics so families can focus on what truly matters – their child. Here, families find routine, reassurance, and the support of a caring community.

At Ronald McDonald House: Lexington, families have access to:

  • A private bedroom with an ensuite bathroom for each family, including Tempur-Pedic mattresses and pillows
  • Home-cooked meals and shared kitchen spaces
  • Laundry facilities
  • A lounge space
  • A play area for children
  • Recreational and family activities
  • Complimentary transportation to and from local hospitals

It costs approximately $125 per night, per room to operate the House. Families are never charged to stay with us. While guests may choose to contribute toward their stay if they are able, no family is ever turned away due to an inability to give. The remaining cost of operating the House is made possible through the generosity of individuals, organizations, and partners who believe families deserve comfort and care during some of life’s most challenging moments.

Family Stays Sponsors

When a child is facing medical care, family stays.

They stay through the long nights.Through difficult conversations. Through uncertainty and hope.
