At Ronald McDonald House® Lexington, our mission is to remove barriers for Kentucky families navigating medical crises. By providing a place to rest, warm meals, transportation, and a community of support, we ensure families can stay close to their child’s care, and to one another, during the hardest days of their lives.
But today, the need is outpacing our capacity.
As UK HealthCare and Golisano Children’s at UK expand to meet rising demand for pediatric care, more families than ever are traveling to Lexington for treatment. And too often, when families call us, we have to place them on a waiting list, adding worry to an already overwhelming moment.
The Just Imagine Campaign will change that.

A place designed intentionally for rest, connection, and healing.
A place where no family has to wonder where they will sleep.
This campaign is about so much more than bricks and mortar. It is about leaving Kentucky a better place than we found it. It is about building capacity so that when families arrive, the answer moves closer to YES!

Among the 187 houses in the nation, Ronald McDonald House Lexington is one of the smallest Houses, at just 21 rooms.
Golisano Children’s at UK remains our biggest feeder facility. While pediatric capacity there has grown over 200%, the House has grown only 24% in 40 years.
That space deficit led to 1,250 Kentucky families being turned away in the past 5 years. That turn-away rate will continue if nothing changes.
Our phased expansion plan will address the urgent and unmet needs of families traveling for pediatric treatment in Lexington from all over the Commonwealth.
We have a phased plan to build an 85,000 sq. ft. Ronald McDonald House with 85 guest rooms.
