Our Committees

Board Development & Governance Committee

The Board Development & Governance Committee is responsible for strengthening the effectiveness and leadership of the Board of Directors. It ensures members are properly oriented to their legal and ethical responsibilities, regularly evaluates board composition, and leads strategic recruitment to align talent with organizational priorities. The committee also promotes ongoing board education, assesses overall board performance, and partners with officers to identify and develop future board leaders, helping ensure strong, accountable governance for the long term.

The Facilities Committee partners with the Facility Manager and Chief Operating Officer to oversee the functionality, maintenance, and long-range planning of the Ronald McDonald House and its grounds. The committee focuses on operational efficiency, thoughtful stewardship of the physical plant, and proactive planning for future growth. By gathering data, evaluating needs, and establishing clear standards for design and fiscal responsibility, the committee helps ensure the House remains safe, consistent, and well-positioned to support the organization’s evolving mission.

The Business & Finance Committee provides direction and oversight of the organization’s financial management, ensuring strong stewardship and compliance with all federal, state, and reporting requirements, including the annual audit process. The committee safeguards assets and monitors cash flow, investments, and reserve funds through active participation in the annual budgeting process and regular review of financial performance. By offering clear reporting and thoughtful recommendations to the full Board, the committee supports informed decision-making and upholds the Board’s fiduciary responsibility in both short- and long-term planning.

The Special Events Committee exists to generate meaningful support for Ronald McDonald House Lexington through time, talent, and treasure. The committee champions the organization’s signature events while expanding community awareness of its mission and impact. Through strategic promotion, social engagement, event marketing, and peer-to-peer advocacy, SEC members help elevate visibility, strengthen relationships, and inspire greater investment in the families served.

The Programs Committee partners with the Director of Programs & Operations, Chief Operating Officer, and Hospital Programs and Family Services Managers to strengthen and advance the organization’s core services. The committee reviews existing programs, recommends enhancements, and helps identify thoughtful opportunities for expansion while ensuring a high standard of care for families and volunteers. Grounded in shared values of positivity, community, innovation, respect, integrity, and passion, the committee works together to keep families close and continually elevate the impact of Ronald McDonald House Lexington.
