Volunteers in the Ronald McDonald House® Family Room: Golisano Children’s at UK play an important role in creating a welcoming and supportive space for families. As the first friendly face families often encounter, volunteers greet guests, introduce them to the space, and help ensure they feel comfortable and cared for during long hospital days.
Family Room volunteers help maintain a calm, inviting environment by keeping the space organized, restocking snacks and beverages, assisting with light administrative tasks, and supporting families as needed. Their presence brings warmth, consistency, and reassurance to parents and caregivers who may be reluctant or unable to step away from their child’s bedside.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and commit to serving a minimum of two three-hour shifts per month. Because this role takes place within the hospital, the onboarding process is thorough and includes:
